In June, our school was invited to enter the “Bienale Cairo Egypt art competition”. Out of the 19 countries whom participated, Romania won the top 3 awards! Two of our students won awards and all others were awarded certificates for participation. We here at Maria International School of Bucharest are immensely proud.
On February 18th, 2020, our students were invited to the Egyptian Embassy to receive their awards and certificates, meet the Egyptian Ambassador, His Excellency, Mr. Salah Abd El Sadek and his wonderfully helpful Cultural Attaché, Mrs. Dalia.
Our school’s students and staff representatives were treated like royalty, bathing in the ambiance of beautiful Egyptian surroundings, eating Egyptian cuisine and having a great time all around.
We will certainly take up any opportunities presented to the school to visit this and other Embassies in the future. Our aim is to instill a cultural awakening with our students.
A special thank you to Ms Evie , our Year 4 teacher, who trained two of the winners in figure drawing. The two students who were selected chose Jane Austen and Mahandas Gandhi as their drawing models. All our MISB teachers are multi-talented professionals who bring globalism into their classrooms, as is fitting in an international school.
