Year 4’s living history of the Romans in Britain
As part of our end-of-unit Romans in Britain studies, Year 4 enjoyed a “living history” drama lesson, complete with a “Hadrian’s Wall” , Roman soldiers, some pesky Picts (the ancient “Scots”) and Emperor Trajan himself! Things go awry when Hadrian comes to inspect his troops and his wall, only to be attacked by the Picts. Topics lessons are at their most fun when they are dramatised in costume. The “Picts” had lots of fun painting themselves in blue body paint, and the soldiers loved wearing their costumes, especially because they made their own helmets and shields.
