Selecting the right school for your child is a big decision, and we know you want to choose a learning environment that offers the best opportunities available. Our teachers are 100% native English speakers who are dedicated to our holistic approach to education and believe that every child is special and unique. For this reason, our curriculum is geared towards individualized instruction, which allows students to learn at their own pace.
At MISB, we are dedicated to providing our students with positive learning experiences through a rigorous academic program that will prepare students for a rapidly changing world. We inspire and motivate students to achieve their fullest potential in order to be successful for today and be prepared for tomorrow. Collaboration and open lines of communication are a key part of our home-school connection and we ask our parents to join our PTA. We provide engaging afterschool programs such as piano, chess, karaoke, art, crafting, karate, ballet, dance, and homework club.
MISB is an inclusive school. We believe in supporting not only the students, but the family as well. Therefore, our tuition is extremely competitive allowing parents the opportunity to afford a comprehensive private British School centrally located in Piata Amzei in the heart of Bucharest.
The MISB classrooms in our EYFS area provide a prepared environment in which children learn within the context of a loving and nurturing environment. The children’s inherent love of learning is encouraged by providing the opportunity to engage in meaningful activities under the guidance of compassionate and dedicated teachers. Through the learning activities children develop concentration, motivation, persistence, discipline, and harmony. Within this British stylized framework the children progress at their own pace and rhythm according to their individual capabilities.
Our continuous provision area is updated periodically with relevant resources to ensure that our Early Years Foundation Stage students have an environment that is stimulating and perfect for exploration, hands-on learning, and independent play, allowing children to make their own choices to support the idea of enabling independent students.
Our Primary students are encouraged and supported to become independent learners and are given the skills necessary to succeed in order to face challenges with confidence and perseverance. Teachers at MISB are given the responsibility to provide students with information and materials that invite exploration and research.
Students have an in-depth study of Phonics, Maths, Literacy, Grammar and Punctuation, Science, Spelling, History, Geography, PE, Creative Writing, Handwriting, and Art, as well as Romanian language, German, and Dance in KS1. Standardized testing is done every 6 weeks to ensure that students are progressing, and to determine where a student needs support. One afternoon a week is dedicated to a whole school assembly (via Zoom in times of Covid restrictions), and game time to reward students hard work.
- Math students are encouraged through innovative instruction to develop critical and creative thinking skills. Students learn problem solving strategies and teachers use manipulatives and visual models to engage students with hands-on learning activities to give students a view on how math applies to everyday life.
- Literacy students are given books to read in class and with the teacher. We use a program that sees students discussing in-depth chapters and characters as they move through the book. The students will do a book report, an art project, and a time of debating. Comprehension and Grammar are incorporated in these lessons, as are creative writing and spelling.
- Topics – Science, History, and Geography – Students are given a wide variety of activities to engage their interests in the above subjects. Art is incorporated to visualize areas such as The Viking Period, Neanderthals and their environment. Science experiments and Science fairs are an integral part of their learning.
